 Schfflera actinophylla, commonly known as umbrella tree, is native to rainforests in Australia and New Guinea where it grows as a tree to 50’ tall. It is widely grown in temperate climates as an ornamental houseplant.

This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

 CARE AND GROWING TIPS:

Indoor Plant/Wayside Tree/Nectar Plant

Exposure

In bright, indirect light or in lower light but not in direct sun.

Frequent misting to provide humidity.

Water

Water two or three times per week, provde water until it begins to drain from the bottom of the pot. Keep the potting soil evenly moist but not wet.

Discard excess water in pot tray to avoid root rot.

 Soil

A mixture of soil, perlite and a little builder's sand.

Fertilizer

Apply to moist soil, fertilize every 2 months with an all-purpose plant food.

4 REASONS YOURSCHEFFLERAMAY NOT BE DOING WELL:

Avoid over- or under-watering. If leaves begin to turn black and drop it is over-watering. If the leaf tips begin to wrinkle, you’re under-watering the plant.

Look out on mealybugs/scale or spider mites.
