You know what I think is the one food that binds all the different taste buds in Singapore?
CHILLI.
Almost every good Singaporean out there, has a favourite spicy dish; Ma La hot pot, Sze Chuan Chicken, Chilli Crab, Sambal Sotong, ANY curry, Mee Siam, Laksa, Nasi Padang… And the list goes on and on and on.
And in the heart of all that YUMMY FOOD? A good, hot chilli padi.
So let’s get the heat on, and grow some padi right here in our very own homes! You can even use the seeds from the chillis you are using for dinner tonight.
I know so many people who simply chuck the seeds into some soil and in a few weeks – out pops a chilli plant. Ready for you to pamper and grow some spicy heat fruits!
SO, if you do – share your journey and your tips on how to grow a great chilli padi plant! Tag us on @singseesoon.lifestyle so we can help share your experiences with other urban farmers!
And as a bonus, here’s also a little recipe on the extra seeds that you may have – to make spicy sea salt!
Oh, and one last thing… if you’re new to planting from seeds, you can grab a grow kit from our online shop!
Until our next blog, happy planting!
